Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued in Northeastern Pennsylvania

The National Weather Service in Binghamton issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for parts of northeastern Pennsylvania Thursday, June 26, 2025. The warning covers east central Lackawanna County, west central Pike County, and southwestern Wayne County until 2:45 p.m. EDT.

At 2:15 p.m. EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Lehigh, approximately 11 miles southeast of Scranton. The storm was moving southeast at 30 mph. It produced wind gusts of up to 60 mph and penny-sized hail, which could cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

The warning report lists Moscow, Sterling, Lehigh, Greentown, Gouldsboro, Angels, Panther, Daleville, Yostville, Fells Corners, Newfoundland, and La Anna as locations that could be impacted by the storm.

Residents in the affected areas are advised to remain alert for the possibility of tornadoes, as severe thunderstorms can develop into tornadic activity. Authorities recommend moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building for protection.
