The City of Geneva, NY announced that the Water Maintenance Department will conduct its annual water main flushing program from 7:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday. The work is scheduled on different dates in three areas of the city. Area 1 flushing is planned for July 7–11, Area 2 for July 14–18, and Area 3 for July 21–25.

The flushing is done to remove sediment buildup in the water mains and to check the operating condition of fire hydrants. Residents may notice slight discoloration of the water during the flushing activities, and it is recommended that laundry should not be done during this time, but rather in the evening after 3:00 PM.

The project is expected to cause little or no interruption to water service. If anyone experiences persistent water quality issues, they are advised to contact the Water Maintenance Department at (315) 789-8070 or the City Engineering Office at (315) 789-3101.

In addition, the City notes that factors beyond their control, such as a water main break, may result in changes to the flushing schedule.
